Chicken anyone?

Yesterday, we had a huge family picnic.  The day started out hot as usual.  We were in charge of cooking the deWilde family Chicken.  It's an old family recipe.  We are the third generation that makes this.  The chicken halves are cooked over a homemade pit.  It's not something we do very often.  My husband builds and dismantles this just for the chicken.

Right after this picture was taken, My Son called and told us to get the chicken off now!  A huge storm was coming, and we were in the Red zone for tornados.  The 4 men starting grabbing chicken and throwing it into a big cooler.  The  Storm came so fast, they hardly got it finished.   Then our electric went out.  What a mess!!
We had our picnic and the chicken was delish!  My Nephew, Chas works for the electric co.  He' a lineman.  He found out where the break was and fixed it in time for us to eat w/the lights on.  Chas and Todd were called out for storm duty soon after.  I'm lucky to have my electric.  Thanks Chas!

The reason we were having the picnic is because most of the cousins were in one place at the same time and we wanted a picture.  The first three from the left are mine.  Jared, Brett, and Kate.  My Daugher Erin is fourth in from the right. Sadie the dog belongs to Chas, she loves him can you tell ?

Fabric dyeing, and Ava's shiner

I dyed a large batch of Warm and Natural today.  After that was done I started on the osnaburg and muslin.
There are some things that I would rather dye w/tan rit than coffee stain.   I'm going to make white pumpkins and snowmen out of the warm and natural.  The muslin and osnaburg just came along for the dip.  I will be using them for many other projects.  I like using the tan dyed muslin for my dolly bodies.  It can still be spritzed w/coffee stain for added grunge if need be. It was the perfect hot sunny day today to hang them on the line.

As I mentioned in the Title, my Granddaughter Ava has a Shiner.  She fell off the sofa and hit her head on the coffee table.  Ouch!  The poor little Gal is so sweet and dainty looking, but really rough and tumble.  Gotta keep close watch on that one! I'm happy it didn't happen on my watch. LOL...
She's helping Mom-Mom stuff witch bodies in the pictures.

Pumpkin are on my Website

I have two new pumpkin creations on my website.  They will be on Etsy soon too!

The first is a Pumpkin pie sitting in a Vintage Mrs. Smiths pie pan.  The other is a shelf sitter.  All are made from muslin that I painted and grunged.

My First Snowmen for 2010.

It truly is Christmas in July. I got all 21 of these guys finished yesterday. I couldn't decided between the tan dyed muslin or the white on white w/snowflake fabric, so I did both. These aren't grungy, I sometimes like not to do that. They all have a sprinkle of fine glass glitter, and a hanger on the back.
I need the magic computer fairy to get them listed on Etsy, and my Website. Let me know where she is if you find her.

I can't help it! Everytime I upload pictures from my camera, there's a new Charley picture.  My Daughter, Kate is always snapping his picture! He's one spoiled rotten kitty, napping on a floor pillow.

Happy Adoption Anniversary Charley

I know this may seem corny, but I adopted Charley Kitty from the ASPCA 3 years ago.  I'm an advocate for adopting pets that need homes.  He's been a blessing to my household.  We adore Charley, King Charles, Charles, Chuck.  The poor little boy answers to all of his names.  Please support your local shelter.
