Bracing for Irene.

We are in the midst of Irene's terror.
It's raining like crazy and the wind is starting to pick up.  My Son and Daughter are already w/out electric.  My Daughter, Erin is here with my two granddaughters.  Her hubby had to stay over to work at the nuke plant.  He's a Nuculear operator.
Her Dog is here too, along with my Father.
I live on the East Coast 35 miles from Atlantic city on the west side toward Delaware.
It's going to be a long night.  We are in the red zone.  UGH!
Please say some prayers for us, and all that are in the Hurricanes path.
The NJ people have never had this bad a storm in history.
Hugs,   Pat

Say a prayer for us on the East Coast.

I live in South Jersey.  One hour from Ocean City, Atlantic City etc.  They are being evacuated.
This Hurricane storm is serious.  I'm scared to death. Please pray for the people on the East coast. We've had thunderstorms and rain all day.  Measuring 13" of rain in Aug. so far.  The land is saturated.  The hurricane storm winds and rain are expected to uproot trees and power lines.
We were lucky enough to purchase a generator today. I hope we don't need it. We are spending the next two days getting ready and supplies in.
I sewed my butt off today, so I'll have handwork/stuffing to do.  You can't take the crafter outta me!!
Hugs,
Pat

Happy Birthday to my Dad, and new pumpkins listed

Today is my Dads 83rd Birthday.  It's also sadly one week to the day that Mom passed.  We have to celebrate our first special occasion without her. I know with time it will get easier.
I'm cooking Dad a nice dinner,  and we are making homemade ice cream.
My family purchased a new 42" TV for him.  His favorite pastime is watching the Phillies.  (I hope he still loves them after lastnights loss!).  The kids are so excited to update his old console T.V.! LOL...
I have this pumpkin set listed in my Etsy shop.

Moms passed away Monday August 15 at the age of 80.

Mom passed away peacefully on Monday.  Tomorrow we will be having her service and saying our goodbyes.

I found this recent photo that looks like shes waving goodbye.  She really showing off her new hair do.

Now that I am gone,

remember me with smiles and laughter.

And if you need to cry,

cry with your brother or sister

who walks in grief beside you.

And when you need me,

put your arms around anyone

and give to them what you need to give to me.

There are so many who need so much.

I want to leave you something --

something much better than words or sounds.

Look for me in the people I've known

or helped in some special way.

Let me live in your heart

as well as in your mind.

You can love me most

by letting your love reach out to our loved ones,

by embracing them and living in their love.

Love does not die, people do.

So, when all that's left of me is love,

give me away as best you can.

How do you make iced tea?

Sorry I haven't blogged lately.  My life has been turned upside down with my Mother being ill,  and my Father and I having to place her in a nursing home.
Last night my Son in laws brother passed away.  It's been a difficult Summer.

On to something that so many people ask me.  How do I make my iced tea.You might think there was a secret recipe or something. Everyone loves it! If I run out I'm in trouble. LOL..  I know we all have our own method, or buy it ready made, or in a mix.
To Cyndie, Dan, Alan, Steve, Chip, and all the others that want to know how I make it  here goes.
1.  Bring a 6 quart pot, (not quite full of water) to a boil.

2.  Throw in 6 tea bags.  Let it bubble for a minute.  Turn off and let sit for at least 6 hours.

3. Remove teabags.  Add one cup of sugar and the juice of one lemon.  I never use the bottle stuff!
4.  Pour into a gallon pitcher and stir well.   It usually fills one gallon perfectly.

I have some crafts almost finished,  I'll get them posted soon.
Enjoy your tea!
